PSS-Pass Kick-Off Meeting in Bremen (Nov 7-8, 2024)
On November 7-8, 2024, the PSS-Pass project officially launched with a Kick-Off Meeting in Bremen, hosted by OAS Aktiengesellschaft. The event brought together leading researchers, industry partners, and innovators to align on the project’s goals, methodologies, and roadmap. The central focus was on how digitalization can transform Product-Service Systems (PSS) to drive sustainability, efficiency, and circularity in industrial practices.
The meeting began with an overview of the PSS-Pass vision and objectives, setting the stage for discussions on how digital technologies—such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twins, and IoT—can enhance the efficiency and sustainability of PSS models. A structured roadmap for the first year was outlined, highlighting key milestones and expected outcomes.
A significant part of the discussions revolved around pilot projects that will serve as test cases for PSS-Pass innovations. Three sectors were chosen for initial implementation: home appliances, complex equipment systems, and textiles. These pilots will explore how digitalization can optimize service delivery, reduce environmental impact, and create new business models centered around service-based consumption rather than traditional product ownership.
Workshops during the meeting delved into the technological and methodological aspects of the project.
The meeting concluded with a detailed action plan for the upcoming months, outlining deliverables. These foundational steps will ensure smooth progress as the project moves toward practical implementation.
With a clear vision and strong collaboration among partners, the PSS-Pass project is now set to bring digital intelligence into PSS, redefining how businesses approach sustainability, service delivery, and value creation. The journey has begun, and the next steps will be crucial in shaping the future of sustainable and service-driven industries.
